292pp, EN INGLES, SOBRE LA AUTORA::: Dame Freya Madeleine Stark, DBE (31 de enero de 1893, París, Francia - 9 de mayo de 1993, Asolo, Italia) fue una exploradora y escritora británica.Freya Stark nació en París, dónde sus padres estudiaban arte. Su padre, Robert, era un pintor británico y su madre, Flora, era italiana de ascendencia germano-polaca. A los nueve años leyó Las mil y una noches, y quedó fascinada por Oriente. Más tarde aprendió árabe y persa. Durante la I Guerra Mundial estudió Historia en Londres y en la Escuela de Estudios Orientales y Africanos y trabajó con la Cruz Roja en Italia.
