Buch
Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. From 1938 to 1969 the fictional crime novelist and detective Paul Temple, together with his Fleet Street journalist wife Steve, solved case after case in one of BBC radio's most popular series. They inhabited a sophisticated world of chilled cocktails and fast cars, where the women were chic and the men wore cravats - a world where Sir Graham Forbes, of Scotland Yard, usually needed Paul's help with his latest tricky case. The murder of well-known American Myron Harwood, found dead in a small country lane, heralds the start of a series of celebrity murders. Each time, the body is found with a small, square piece of white cardboard bearing the inscription 'The Marquis'. When the eighth victim, a girl, is picked out of the river with the same card attached to her dress, a note from Paul Temple is delivered to Sir Graham Forbes. The message reads: 'Is it true what they say about Rita?' Rita Cartwright was a private detective investigating the Marquis murders - and now she too has ended up dead. With the police baffled and the Home Secretary specially requesting his involvement, Paul Temple has no choice but to intervene. 2 CDs. 2 hrs 20 mins. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Erstausgabe
Hard Cover. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Dust Jacket. First Edition. First UK Edition. Octavo. 135 pp. Publisher's red cloth with black-stamped spine; with original illustrated dust jacket. A bright and clean VG+ copy with some minor damp-staining to the front and rear boards. On the front free end-paper there is a stamp (Royal Naval War Libraries) but there are no other signs of library ownership and, clearly, this book was never widely circulated. Internally clean; top-edge slightly darkened. In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the inside flap (as called for) which is in good condition. The D/W has moderate edgewear; some chipping in head and foot of spine panel, spine sunned; soiling overall; heavily rubbed overall; tear at the head of the spine. A novelisation adapted from scripts for the Paul Temple BBC radio series, also written by Francis Durbridge. The novel written in collaboration with Charles Hatton (uncredited in text). A difficult book to find. Photographs/scans available upon request.
