Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. SIGNED on the half title page by Ansel Adams. Presumed first edition, with 1948 date in the copyright statement and on the title page, with no indication of later printings. Lacking the jacket. Tan cloth boards, with slightest darkening to the spine. Slightest toning throughout, with discoloration from something formerly laid in to the page captioning the first plate, all other pages and plates clean and unmarked (see photographs provided). xix, 115pp ,[3], 64 plates with facing page captions and quotations, 119-132pp. From the preface: "This book is a synthesis. A half-century apart, two artists, inspired by the same great manifestation of nature's beauty, have sought to express it each in his own medium. The unhurried process of nature left the essence of Yosemite unchanged between the time when John Muir knew, studied, and expressed its beauty, and the day when Ansel Adams recorded and interpreted it with his camera.".
